Back to the future in the Honda!
Do you remember? The feared “Millennium Bug” caused fear and horror in 1999. It was rumored that computers would crash when they move into the year 2000. But that did not happen, the computers continued to run reliably on January 1, 2000 and displayed the correct date.
Now, 21 years after the turn of the millennium, the “Millennium Bug” phenomenon occurs on some Honda models from 2004 to 2012. With the turn of the year from 2021 to 2022, the system time did not jump to the new year, but suddenly showed 2002. This is what Honda drivers from all over the world report in the “Honda CR-V Owner’s Club” Internet forum. German Honda owners are also affected by the problem.
What to do? The problem cannot be solved manually. Honda drivers have already reported that the system clock resets itself to 01.01.2002, 2 p.m. after every start. The solution: just wait!
A Honda owner shared his response from Honda USA on the forum. There it says:
We escalated the problem with the navigation watch to our engineering team, who informed us that the problem would exist from January 2022 to August 2022 and that it would then be corrected automatically.
Honda’s European headquarters say they know the problem and are looking for a solution. Affected customers should contact their local Honda dealer.
