Faced with the increase in cyberattacks, Emmanuel Macron must present Thursday, February 18 at noon the French strategy in terms of cybersecurity, after an exchange by videoconference with the directors of the hospitals of Dax and Villefranche-sur-Saône, recently victims of ransomware, announced the Elysee.
Hospitals, easy targets in the face of cyberattacks
The Head of State will announce a budget of one billion euros, including 720 million public funds, to strengthen the sector and triple its turnover to 25 billion euros in 2025.
The executive wants to create a “Cybersecurity ecosystem” by strengthening the links between public and private research, in order to reduce the share of foreign players who represent 30% to 40% of the French market.
Cyber attacks on the rise
At the heart of this ambition, the future “Cyber Campus” which will bring together over 20,000 square meters in La Défense, some sixty key players in the sector – large groups, start-ups, public players, training organizations, research players and associations.
The objective is to double the workforce in the sector, to 40,000 jobs, and to bring out at least three “unicorns” (start-ups with a capitalization of over one billion dollars). Among the most promising companies, the presidency cites Vade Secure, Gatewatcher or CybelAngel.
