The Oppo Find N in multi-tasking with the preview of the last snapshot taken on the left, and the camera on the right
Is this the symbol of our flexibility? Flexible screens, long objects of fantasy, became reality when, in 2019, at the Barcelona Mobile World Fair, Samsung and Huawei exhibited under glass, like the capricious stars of an emerging technology, their first foldable smartphones. Therefore, this innovation, carried today by the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 of the Korean giant, seems to have found its audience and is being emulated by many manufacturers: LG, Motorola, Xiaomi, and very recently Oppo, with a model rather successful, but not yet marketed in Europe.
With Oppo, the foldable smartphone finally becomes interesting

All that remained was to take this flexible concept out of the world of telephony. After Lenovo, which launched the first foldable laptop with a 13-inch screen last year, it’s the turn of the Taiwanese Asus to enter the dance by unveiling on January 5 at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the world’s largest tech show, a first 17-inch foldable screen PC.

The Asus Zenbook 17 Fold, from every angle
The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, designed by the number one seller of consumer computers in France, is thus equipped with a 17.3-inch touch screen (25.60 cm x 19.20 cm), capable of folding to create two 12.5 inch surfaces. Closed, it houses a separable keyboard that can be connected via Bluetooth, which clips onto the lower part of the device, or sits on a desk, in front of its fully deployed screen (and supported by an adjustable foot inserted on the back).
On-board tech matches the design, with the latest 12-inch Intel Core processorand generation, an audio system signed Harman Kardon, and a 5 MP webcam with noise reduction for video calls. In the end, we will have in our hands from the middle of the year a very versatile object, both tablet, desktop PC, even small television. The set remains light enough (1.6 kg without the keyboard, 1.9 kg with) to be easily transportable. Enough to seduce the nomadic teleworker of a hybrid world where everything is only connection… There remains the price of innovation: 3,999 euros – still very high at this stage.
